1. Would you tell us a bit about your background and what gave you the inspiration for Baroque Cosmetics?
Baroque Cosmetics: My name is Andi and I live in Richmond, Virginia! I like video games, history, cats and makeup! I’ve always wanted to have an indie makeup company because makeup is something I completely enjoy doing. It’s stress free for me. My biggest philosophy in life is do what makes you happy, because life is incredibly short and you never know when it will be taken from you.
Baroque Cosmetics went through several iterations but I always knew my first collection was going to be a historical one. I do plan on releasing more historical collections because I think it would be crazy fun to make them, but I also want to release some collections that reflect my flavor of geek!
2. Are your products uniquely blended or are they “repacks” of micas you can purchase in bulk?
Baroque Cosmetics: Every single eyeshadow I sell and plan to sell are hand blended by me personally. I do not and will not repackage micas found wholesale.
3. Is your line cruelty-free?
Baroque Cosmetics: 100%
4. Are all of your products Vegan?
Baroque Cosmetics: Absolutely!
5. Being an indie company, it is good to know what type of precautions are in place to ensure safety and cleanliness. Would you describe your workspace and setup?
Baroque Cosmetics: I have an entire room in our house that my husband lets me work in.(How gracious, right? Haha) It has everything I need (for the time being!). I always wear a set of nitrile gloves (forever cautious about latex allergies) and everything is sterilized with good old alcohol. I wipe down my workspace with it every time I do basically anything. Because I’ve seen what happens if you don’t, and wow I am not about that!!
6. Will you ship internationally?
Baroque Cosmetics: I plan to!
7. Do you have help with Baroque Cosmetics, or are you a one woman show?
Baroque Cosmetics: It’s just me. I’d enlist the labor force of my cats but they’d just paw at stuff and never get anything done. They’d look really cute doing that though…
8. What should we expect next from Baroque Cosmetics?
Baroque Cosmetics: I’m working on a new collection, one based off my favorite book/movie, Howl’s Moving Castle! I’d like to do a color of the month and eventually move on to blushes/bronzers etc but I have several irons in the fire and I want to make sure everything is up to snuff before I release something new.
I think Baroque Cosmetics sounds and looks pretty great so far! Don’t you?! I am ridiculously excited about the upcoming Howl’s Moving Castle Collection now!!! Howl’s is one of my family’s favorite movies!!! I have used all of the shades and can tell you that they blend well, are very pigmented and sparkly, and they don’t fade or get muddy. Prices are $1.50 for a sample and $6 for a full-size. Right now Baroque is having a launch sale, 15% off with discount code BCLaunch until June 6th! Don’t miss this chance!!!!
Which shades do you plan to buy?
