The views and opinions expressed on this blog are purely my own.
If you have health issues or are concerned about your well being, consult your doctor!!! The products I use may not work the same on you as they do for me. Everyone is different. The phenomenon of chaos is also present in our universe. I don’t purposely make things look like they work if they don’t. I don’t make stuff up to make things sound better. I don’t really get paid to do this, other than tiny amounts of commission from ads or affiliates. Blogging is hard work and quite time consuming. I enjoy sharing the love. I’ve bought items that I’ve hated and felt were a waste of money. I’m just trying to share my experiences, hoping that I can help someone make an informed decision. Possibly a better decision than I made…..
The owner of this blog does not accept any liability for use of material, products, and/or techniques seen and/or mentioned on Harajuku Girl FL Beauty.User assumes all risks. The owner of this blog will be held harmless in any situation involving issues which arise from an individual using any and all information from this site. Ok, sorry for the legal mumbo jumbo. Basically, I share out of love for what I do. If you use my suggestions and they don’t work or *gasp* cause an adverse reaction I’m sorry that happened, but I’m not in control of such things. I am not able to foresee your individual reaction to products. I’m not here forcing you to do what I do. I’m not professing to be an expert or medical professional, just your friendly neighborhood blogger!!! Your Doctor is always the best source for medical information. That being said, I’m using makeup here, people! MAKEUP, beauty products, and nail polish. Let’s not get too carried away….. Of course, all this legal stuff is necessary these days. Hope it doesn’t discourage you. I’m not doing these things to intentionally cause harm to myself, or you either!!! Disclosure is required by the FTC, Federal Trade Commission. In the spirit of “full” disclosure. (^_-) What the button? Here’s the decoder ring to know what the buttons are trying to tell you!!!
This would be an item I purchased with my own hard-earned money that my husband sometimes lets me spend!!! This means I received ZERO consideration or compensation for writing about/using this product. I may have purchased it full price (EEEEK), on sale (FTW!), or (hopefully) with reward points if the company has such a program.
This is a product I received as a gift from any of my friends or family. I don’t know anyone affiliated with beauty or cosmetics company that would give me gifts, but I will disclose if that happened. If anyone needs a shopping list, I’m more than happy to share it!!!
- Free Sample:
This is a free sample that I received. It could be a free gift with purchase (GWP). Might be a sample I asked for or got in the mail (from places such as at Sephora, or a department store makeup counter). No compensation for these. The sample givers have no expectations that I use the product, (of course they WANT you to) or write about it. I am just a random sample grabber/receiver. They most likely don’t know me, don’t know about my blog, may never read blogs, and may not even own a computer.
- Press Sample:
This is a free sample provided to me by a company. The item could come directly from the manufacturer, a supplier, or from a PR company on behalf of the company and/or supplier. Blogging is work, hard work. Hard work that you do for free because it’s a labor of love. It is nice when companies value my opinion and choose to have me present their product to readers. It’s a compliment to me. I don’t blog for things. I blog for fun, and the connection to the blogging community. Press samples are not to be treated lightly. They are essentially physical trust. Trust from the provider that you will review, and trust from readers that your review will be an honest one.
- Giveaway Prize:
This is an awesome prize that I received from a blog, a company, an individual, a Facebook page, or… a random person on the street? I always wanted to be the millionth customer (or whatever magic number a business designated) and have the balloons and/or confetti fall down on me while the manager tells you everything you bought was free!! Hasn’t happened and I think that’s a TV thing. If it happens, you can bet I will disclose it!!!! With pictures if possible. Because the rule is, pics or it didn’t happen!!!! Anyway, when winning a giveaway you aren’t required to blog about it. Or give a favorable review. If you were, then I wouldn’t accept the prize. (maybe if it was a date with EV!!!) I would disclose if there was some weird requirement too. Hasn’t happened. Likely won’t happen.
I will try to include hashtags on Twitter and Instagram where I merely post a pic. I remember this rarely, sorry FTC!
When I swatch eyeshadows, blush, etc., I typically use a primer to help the colors show accurately in photos. I may use a nude primer, such as one from Urban Decay, POP Beauty, e.l.f., Too Faced, any Independent company, etc. I might use a sticky base, such as Darling Girl Cosmetics Glitter Glue, Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy, e.l.f., or Sally Beauty Glitter Glue. Again, this is to help the product look true to life in a photo. I do not attempt to make the products look different. I could also use colored bases, jumbo pencils, lotion, nothing at all. Each product is unique. If you want to know about specific swatches, please ask me! I’m more than happy to let you know.
- Photoshop or other photo editing:
Yes, I use Photoshop. I have a few versions of Photoshop Elements (PSE) and an older version of full Photoshop. I mostly use PSE. I use these editing tools to help my pictures look better. By better, I do not mean fashion magazine type enhancement. I don’t desire to airbrush over real life. I do try to remove color distortion (color cast), unnecessary background, hide my full bitchface or kids/cats in the background. Sometimes I’m tempted to edit all my freckles off. Then you’d think you were on the wrong blog. Basically, I want you to be able to see colors as accurately as possible. I do not want you to see acne or nose hairs (eeeek!). I don’t ever “apply” makeup with Photoshop. I am using real product in real life. Otherwise, this whole blog would be pointless. Same goes for nail pictures, hair pics, or any other random pictures I post. If I’ve used a photo from another source, I will credit the source or link to it!
- BzzAgent/Influenster/Klout/Smiley360/Swaggable (and etc):
I was given a free product or sample because I’m a “Influencer”. I am under no obligation to receive the sample or talk about this company. I get no additional benefits for talking about the product or company. I give honest reviews and my opinion/integrity is not for sale.
I am currently an affiliate with several companies such as: Abbamart; Sugarpill; Wantable, and many others. Being an affiliate allows me to collect small amounts of commission from sales where the purchase has been made after clicking on a link in my blog. I have partnered with a few companies that I use myself. If I didn’t like them, I wouldn’t be affiliated with them. If they make or do something I don’t like, I will let you know. If any circumstances arise where I do not feel the companies I partner with are no longer acting in good faith, the relationship will terminate. I don’t support items I wouldn’t use or don’t like. Being an affiliate doesn’t equal automatic postitive review either. I just happen to like these companies. They’re pretty awesome IMHO! I use a plug-in by Pro-Grids that helps locate items from various retailers which you might be interested in. I don’t choose these, you don’t have to look at them. Sometimes they may not be relevant. I will note if I use affiliate links in a specific post. Sometimes you may see asterisks around **the link** in my older posts. I also utilize Skimlinks which helps to monetize my blog links. This service auto-links to a network of affiliate companies which provide commission.
- I also utilize advertising from Google Adsense which provides commission if you click on the ads on my site.
- I am a member of the BlogHer advertising network
